Say yes to the dress India is a desi avatar of the American/English television series with the same conceptual idea and narrative. There are lot of versions available nowadays to provide a culturally diverse entertainment to a wider audience.
The storyline of the show revolves around fashion experts and stylists share their opinions and expertise to help women in India select the perfect dress for their wedding.
The title track of the wedding-oriented show the lenghas, jewelry and makeup are example of unique selling point of the show an attempt to increase the TRP and also give the loyal viewers of the American and English counterparts a sense of relatability and nostalgia while offering something new.
In my opinion this project individually somewhat works for me and is a good piece of entertainment for its audience, it fails to bring back memories associated with the same. Say Yes to the Dress India has a scripted feel to the series. The interactions between the team designers and the team bride seems made up. From the Indian outfits, jewelry and various adds on are all sponsored by famous designers and brands. By doing this the show couldn’t demand my emotional connect. The anchor as well as the ladies provide an overdose of drama therefore killing the genuine vibes. Say Yes to the Dress America and UK allows the audience to think about their marriage day and the rituals as they watch it on television.
