Film Review

Bhediya

Bhediya (Wolf) is a 2022 Indian Hindi language comedy horror film directed by Amar Kaushik. It is produced by Dinesh Vijan. Bhediya stars Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. It is a third instalment in Vijan’s horror comedy universe. The film is written by Niren Bhatt. The film also features Abhishek Banerjee and Deepak Dobriyal. It released on 25th Nov 2022 and received positive reviews from the critics and audience alike.

The plot of the cinematic piece revolves around a man called Bhaskar who visits a small town in Arunachal Pradesh for a development project to construct roads but his life changes and flips on his head after a particular incident in the jungle.

Kriti Sanon as Dr Anika shines all along in the film. I loved the surprise relating to her character and is worth watching. Varun Dhawan plays the titular role; he does a good job specially the changes and the final transformation as the wild animal. Abhishek Banerjee with his role is entertaining and ensures that the comedy flavor of the film is of top notch for the entirety of the running time.

I want to congratulate the makers for their efforts for the Vfx, selection of the location, songs. A well-researched jungle scenes, interaction between humans and wolves. The relationships between the wolves. All this provides a sense of realism and relatability to the audience making them enjoy the film to the fullest. The film also talks about a lot of issues related to environment, people belonging to north east etc so it feels a little cluttered. The love story between the lead characters has been kept simple and subtle, it does divert the attention of the viewers completely from the topic. The film has a slow first half but does not bore at any point. There are few loop holes that can be ignored to enjoy the film. Watching the movie in 3D gives the full experience.

To Conclude I want to say that I want to say that it is a good attempt by the cast and crew at creating supernatural horror comedy film with wolves and human world mixed together but still there is a lot of work to do to perfect it.
