Jodha Akbar Review

Jodha Akbar is an Indian historical fictional drama romantic television series. The show is produced by Ekta kapoor under the banner of Balajii Telefilms. It was directed by the group of directors Santram Varma, Ranjan Singh, Vicky Chauhan, Arshad Khan and Kadar Kazi.

The storyline follows the life of a great emperor Akbar and Jodha Bai who were in a forceful marriage due to a political alliance between Akbar and Jodha’s father. Both of these individuals gradually understand that they have fallen for each other and the changes that proceed from there is a treat to watch. In order to keep the interest of the audience intact the makers introduced a generation leap. The masses got to view Rajat and Paridhi as parents onscreen. As an ardent fan of Prithvi Raj Chauhan I wanted a reunion of Rajat and Lavina and Mughdha. I loved the fact that Rajat and Lavina reunited for the project but desire would be fulfilled when Mughdha played Jodha in the show.

Now let’s talk about performances in the Jodha Akbar that I like:

  • Rajat Tokas as Akbar the great. According to me he has given a flawless performance. He carries the attitude, etiquettes, the royal behavior, the heavy dress and jewelry so effortlessly. Every scene he features in is very elegant and charming.
  • Lavina Tandon as Ruqaiya Sultan Begum. She is the first wife and a childhood friend of Akbar. The character has so many layers that audience gets a chance to react differently to the character angry, feel proud or in some cases pity her as well. Kudos to Lavina has managed bring out every layer with so much brilliance.
  • Manisha Yadav as Salima Sultan Begum. She is the second wife of Akbar. She is a good friend as well as an advisor more than a wife. Salima is very calm and composed and a very good listener.
  • Ashwini Kalsekar as Maham Anga. She is the vamp of the show. She is a very clever woman who is always power hungry. She is the one who has taught Akbar to run the kingdom efficiently. She wants to be on the King’s side so that she could get all the royal facilities for herself and her son.
  • Parag Tyagi as Sharifuddin Hussain. He is one of the male antagonists of the show. He is very selfish. He acts to love and care for his wife Akbar’s sister so that he could get all the perks of his political career as well as personal life.
  • Chetan Hansraj as Adham Khan. He is another bad guy of the show. He is the son of Maham Anga and step brother of Akbar. He is only interested in financial and Political gains. The actor has done a phenomenal job as his expressions and eyes are enough to keep the audience engaged with each scene he is part of.
