Kaatelal and Sons Review

Kaatelal and Sons is an Indian Comedy television series that airs on SonySab. It is produced by Contiloe pictures pvt ltd. It is directed by Ravi Bhushan.  The screenplay is written by Sweksha Bhagat.

The story revolves around Dharam Pal and his twin daughters. The narrative is set up in Rohtak Haryana where girls struggle to follow their dreams. The message of the show is very interesting – dreams and work should not be gender biased.  Many women in Haryana as well as India will be inspired by these two strong willed female protagonists.

The show also shows these ladies making their own choice when it comes to work or life partners. It is a welcome to watch programs where female choices are valued, respected and encouraged.

The romantic pairing is also on point. Sushila Promod, Garima and Agini add different flavors to the show. The first pair has beautiful chemistry the audience relates to.  The second pair is fresh and love angle is developing slowly and viewers are enjoying it as well.

Now let’s talk about the performances in the show that I found outstanding:

  • Ashok Lokhande as Dharam Pal Kaatelal Ruhail. He plays the role of a traditional father to his daughters who believes that sons can only take forward his business and legacies. The daughters are just meant to be married off. The audience likes him as they remember him as Altoo uncle from SonPari.
  • Heemakshi Ujjain as Kusum Ruhail. She is very supportive mother to her daughters. She is always standing with them as a crucial pillar that sometimes becomes the shock absorber between the husband and the daughters.
  •  Swati Tarar as Chanchal Ruhail. She is used by the director as a comic relief in the show. The jokes cracked by the character are funny.
  • Sachin Chaudhary as Putrapaal Kaatelal Ruhail. He is also another element of the support system of his sisters and also responsible for some light and funny moments in the show.
  • Paras Arora as Dr. Pramod Chautala (Chotta Haddi). He is the love interest of the younger twin Sushila. I love every aspect of the character from dressing sense to the looks and the humor.
  • Karuna Verma & Hans Dev Sharma as Mr. and Mrs Chautala. Very supportive parents to Promod. All the three characters in one frame is a delight to watch. Even the mother and son scenes are beautifully written and Shot.
  • Sahil Phull as a SHO Agni Rajawat (Garima’s love interest). He is a very interesting character, the makers have attempted to showcase the soft side of the police inspector and to an extent they have been successful with it.
