Corona Virus has proved to be a constant threat to human life. The vaccines are rapidly being produced to combat the situation. The second wave of the virus is very dangerous so it is our responsibility to follow the rules and regulations imposed by the government even now.
Bollywood, Television, Music and Cricket make up the major factors of the Entertainment industry. The demand of this industry has increased manifolds in the troubled times. IPL is most loved format of cricket by the fans. In 2020 the organizers had moved out to Dubai for the tournament. In 2021 shifting to another country wasn’t a possibility as the restrictions were even stricter so it had to be conducted in India. There were various measures to ensure the safety and security of all the cricketers and staff members of each and every team participating in IPL:
- No Spectators are allowed for any matches in the IPL which reduces the virus spreading at a fast rate.
- The major part of the matches is planned in Mumbai and Chennai. Change in plans in last moment will put everyone at risk of transit and coming in contact with large number of people.
- Mumbai has a necessary cricket as well as medical facilities to tackle any kind of emergencies.
The IPL coming back to the homeland and Mumbai going under lockdown came as a ray of positivity for both the authorities and the brands. The organizers got help in crowd control and not a single unwanted person could enter the stadium. All the sponsors got the share of its profit and Hotstar got the benefits of telecasting the IPL live at the same time as on Television. The subscriptions of Hotstar also increased in the IPL session.
In my opinion I understand that the loyal fans of IPL expect it to be organized in every situation and I respect it. Though IPL is a big event and the necessary precautions are taken. It can become a breeding ground for the virus. I know cancelling the popular cricketing event can incur so much financial loss. It would be nice if we get to save large amount of lives at the cost of loss of money. It would be a real profitable deal in some sense.
